PPC / SEM Specialist

Position Summary

The PPC/SEM Specialist position (PS) at C1 is responsible for full control and execution of our SMB and Enterprise level PPC/SEM campaigns. This position is tasked to ensure that the client’s needs are being addressed by the services we provide.  The PPC Specialist is expected to consistently provide excellent customer service to accounts, as well as represent client needs and goals within the organization to ensure quality. This position will report directly to the Director of Operations and work side-by-side our Account Managers and Digital Strategists to ensure complete coverage of our client’s needs. In addition, the PS should build relationships with clients to encourage new and repeat business opportunities.

This position has a fair amount of flexibility to how this can be approached, and candidates who are self-starting, able to develop, standardize and manage best practices, and those with a keen eye on efficient management will be successful.

Essential Functions

The PS is primarily responsible for the success of the account, which ensures that ROI is achieved, maintained, and communicated to the client in a consistent manner. Paid Specialists, along with the AM and Digital Strategists (DST), will find themselves consulting and participating in a number of roles related to marketing or support for clients.

  • Responsible for all AdWords implementation of campaigns, ad groups, A/B tests, dynamic text ads, extensions and tag management, and developing or incorporating new solutions as the account strategy demands.
  • Implements and reports on all optimizations and improvements made to the account team and client.
  • Ensures that client issues are dealt with in an efficient manner, informing the Digital Strategist or Director of Operations of any current or potential problems that may arise.
  • Owns the contract and deliverable items for new and existing work for clients.
  • Directly develops or manages the development of landing pages, including copy creation (individually or with staff copywriters), tag management and conversion monitoring, and A/B testing where relevant
  • Ensures that all processes and procedures are completed, quality standards are met, and that projects are profitable.
  • Stay on the edge of improvements and tools developed by Google and incorporate new tactics into existing procedures
  • Construct clear reports and transparently demonstrating success or failures to clients.
  • Provide regular two-way communication between the client and team and provide strong team representation and set proper client expectations.
  • Point out the elephant in the room when an issue arises that needs to be addressed. 

Knowledge and Required Critical Skills/Expertise:

  • An entrepreneurial spirit and a willingness to understand new businesses and industries
  • Google AdWords certifications, advanced certifications, and maintaining them yearly are required, Analytics is highly recommended
  • Developed track record of successful PPC campaigns with AdWords with a minimum combined total spend of $1 Million
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to clients, utilizing reporting tools such as RavenTools or customized Google Analytics Dashboards
  • Knowledge of advanced lead tracking management through Google Tag Manager, tracking pixels, goal/conversion creation, and all relevant steps to integrate reporting data
  • The confidence and curiosity to evolve into the ‘go to’ paid search specialist for the agency

These are not required, but candidates possessing these skills will be preferred:

  • WordPress CMS development or management experience
  • Experience in programmatic campaigns through TradeDesk, Choozle, or other third party bidding tools
  • SEO knowledge and expertise
  • Certifications in Inbound Marketing and/or Analytics
  • Graphic design / creative brief experience
  • Familiarity with Wrike or similar account management software
  • Familiarity with SEO software (SEMRush, Ahrefs, SEO Quake, just to name a few…) 

What We’ll Train You to Do

C1 encourages a culture of learning, and we make a commitment to all team members to grow their skills in professionally applicable ways. Specifically, all of our Account Management staff will learn:

  • A strong knowledge of search engines, SEO best practices, and how to effectively market on SERP’s
  • How to develop strategies to achieve ROI across multiple channels in multiple industries
  • Develop compelling messaging and creative to generate and improve performance of key marketing metrics
  • An understanding of how online and traditional marketing supplement, improve, and support each other

Education/Experience

 A college degree required, preferably with concentrations in business, communications, marketing, IT/technology, or other applicable background. Although all candidates will be considered, at least two years of actively managing paid search campaigns, and being able to demonstrate success within those campaigns, is required. Experience working with agencies or in client-consultant environments is preferred, but not required.

Communication Skills

You will be working in a team environment, so interpersonal communication and communal problem solving skills are crucial. You will help manage and direct a network of outside service providers. An ability to understand and deal effectively with co-workers, vendors, and developers regarding performance concerns or issues according to company best practices regardless of attitude, behavior or tone of the individual is essential.

The work schedule will require reliable transportation and valid drivers’ license.  Current registration and car insurance is required.

  • Ensures that client issues are dealt with in an efficient manner, informing the Digital Strategist or Director of Operations of any current or potential problems that may arise.
  • Owns the contract and deliverable items for new and existing work for clients.
  • Works closely with vendors, developers, and writers to complete tasks and identify potential issues and/or opportunities within or related to the project.
  • Ensures that all processes and procedures are completed, quality standards are met, and that projects are profitable.
  • Construct clear reports and transparently demonstrating success or failures to clients.
  • Uncover opportunities for account growth and new business.
  • Communicate the client’s goals and represent the client’s interests to the team.
  • Provide regular two-way communication between the client and team and provide strong team representation and set proper client expectations.
  • Understand company products, capabilities, and services, and effectively communicates all applicable offerings to the client.
  • Analyze client websites and, utilizing trained best practices, recommend and/or implement improvements as they relate to marketing goals.

Knowledge and Required Critical Skills/Expertise
