“How Long to Do SEO”?
We had this question today from a prospective client in a competitive niche asking us how long they would need to continue to utilize SEO. Our response was that if things did not ever change with your competition or with the Google Algorithm, you might be able to do just a few things for a while and then back off a bit. However, things always change so we are left with the task of engineering what needs to be done as closely to “just enough” as possible to help you dominate your market in the search results, without falling behind the competition.
In addition to algorithms and competitors, prospective customer’s search habits change, meaning different search terms to target, so content needs changing, and being proactive is usually better than being reactive. If we don’t make what we do for you profitable, then we all lose, because you will be unhappy and that will make us unhappy. So if it seems easier than we thought to get you ranked and we feel we can adjust strategies or back off a bit we will let you know.
What we do after we rank a site is also a bit more focused on maintaining and “padding” results, adjusting strategies and adjusting content so that when the next big algorithm change occurs we are not hit by it as hard as the others who do not take the time to do that. If you don’t pad and evolve your SEO efforts continuously you can be more susceptible to changes.
If we do this and generate only one new client a month it will likely be a break even experiment for you in the short run and even more in the long run. If it works a lot better than that we will be heroes, but no matter what we will actually drive leads your way, leaving time to tell us how profitable this strategy is.
